Island Scholars will award scholarships to deserving students annually. We believe that a university education equips students with the tools to be significant contributors and leaders in their communities and country.
To qualify for a scholarship award, students must complete high school and be accepted for admission to university or currently attending a university. In addition, applicants must demonstrate financial need. All applicants must be both citizens and residents of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Students must apply online (see Scholarship Application tab on the website), include two letters of recommendation (at least one from a current or previous teacher or supervisor ), family financial information and an essay. The essay should describe the applicant’s educational and career goals, state why he or she would be a suitable candidate for the scholarship award and how he or she plans to contribute to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Applications are accepted from April 1st to June 30th each year. The scholarship committee will review applications and awards will be given by August 25th. Currently the maximum award per student is US$3,000 per academic year. The scholarship is renewed annually if the recipient maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
